Just a bit of info. about the tremors. . . I used to

have severe tremors at times. . . ( and still do on

occasions) found usually when my blood sugar dropped

and yes coffee seemed to affect me. Keep in mind,

anything with artificial sweetners such as aspartame

and nutrisweet can cause nerve tremors in some who are

more sensative. ( it affects me severely)

I used to think it was caffeine that affected me with

tremors; now I find it isn't caffeine so much for I

cna drink black tea and it won't affect me at all. . .

I read in a book on MS that the chemicals they use to

process coffee is neurotoxic. . . and the oils in

certain things such as coffee and chocolate go rancid

quickly on the shelf and causes deteriation of the

mylein sheath (eats on it). For a normal person this

isn't a concern but if you have nerve disorders of any

kind it will affect you! We don't process oils easily

or normally.

It was recommended if you have nerve tremors you

should not use coffee unless you get whole beans and

ground fresh with each use. Do not leave beans or

grounds on shelf but must be refrigerated to prevent

racidity. Only grind amount to be used immediately.

I used to try to get decaffienated and it affected me

even more severely. The reason is the chemicals used

to decaffeinate evidently speeds the racidity making

it toxic.

This must be so, for since my CMT diagnosis I have

ground my coffee fresh each pot (use a four cup maker)

and keep beans refrigerated. I very rarely have

tremors unless I have over done activity or have low

blood sugar. And, you'll be surprised how much better

your coffee tastes! ;-)My company loves it too!

***Another big caution is to never reheat coffee or

drink coffee that has been sitting in pot a long time

it produces even more toxic rancidity.***

I also limit my chocolate intake for it seems to

affect me too.

Hope it helps; Try it for yourself for others may be

affected differently! God Bless;

Libby in Arkansas

(keep in mind these are my own experiences and you may

be different but it might help with an idea where to

look)

P.S. When I was a child and even now, certain foods

affected me; I have found I can't eat eggs unless the

are " yard " eggs; found out the " wash " they treat the

eggs with from the store changes the chemical balance

(B vitimins in the egg). . . try to start noticing

when he has the tremors and what seems to affect him

more. I also couldn't have milk products in certain

amounts. . seemed to fatigue my system severely and

cause me to shake. My youngest daughter seems to show

these same tendencies. We both have CMT1X. Also, a

daily supplement of Omega3 essential fatty acids (

found in fish, flax seed and soy proteins) seem to

have helped my tremors somewhat.

Consider since our bodys work very hard to digest

food; we do better if we don't use the more processed

foods. . easier on our system to digest things that

have natural enzymes to help the body process when its

already struggling due to nerve conduction reduced.

Also, I find it better to eat smaller portions and eat

more often thatn to over work body with a big meal or

hard to process foods.
