Welcome ,

Thanks for posting! And please, do it often. We really need to hear the

male point of view. Lord knows the females in this group have no trouble

speaking out!!!! (lol)

I have purchased magnet braces for 2 of my daughters. One has ankle pain

and the other has knee pain. Both of them say the magnets help relieve the

pain when they wear them. I have no reason to doubt that they do - preteens

have a way of telling you " like it is " about everything!!!! And I

personally prefer the magnets to medication at this point in time.

If anyone ever hears of any detrimental effects from magnets, please let me

know. I don't care if studies suggest they don't work; if my kids feel some

relief then I am grateful. However, I would hate to think I am helping them

when I am actually harming them.

Again, welcome . You are in a wonderful and elite group here.

Hi everyone - awhile ago we had some discussion about magnets for pain

and someone asked if there were any medical studies on this. Well, the

March 8, 2000 JAMA just got to my desktop and in Vol. 283, No. 10, there

are results of a magnets and back pain study done. Here is the site:

http://www.jama.ama-assn.org/issues/V283n10/toc.html it is the 5th

story listed (under the Viagra advertisement!)

My Mom is buying a magnet necklace for me to wear to get rid of my headaches.

I will let you know. It's 150 dollars ... I won't spend the money but she

wants to.
