Ice packs also help me with other muscle type pain. But, be careful, ice packs can deaden the nerves (the burning being caused by the nerves, the ice deadens - temporarily only) Some of the anti-depressant medications are helpful in treating pain. I'm not sure but I think it has capsaicin in it with lidocaine which actually alleviates some initial burning by the cream itself.
