Jim, At one time I took amitriptyline and it worked fantastic for me. It

helped with the pain and depression and I was able to get to sleep. BUT, It

had one side affect that I couldn't ignore. WEIGHT GAIN! So I stopped taking

it after putting on 20 lbs within 3 months time. (not everyone has this

problem). Jeanie

Jeanie, I took amitriptyline for 4 days, but decided to quit. I've

become so nervous and irratable I can't stand myself! I'm sure my family

would say the same! The dry mouth I could live with, but not this!

, it wasn't in your head. I guess some folks just have that kind

of reaction to amytriptyline! But I've always had wierd reactions to

anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medicines! One reason why I try to stay

away from them and just deal with any depression or anxiety as best I can.
