There is no way I could distract myself by 'concentrating' on anything. Whether it is the computer, a movie or ANYTHING! (Standing (sometimes walking in place) in a REALLY hot shower with the water hitting on my back and running down my legs is the only thing that seems to help.) The RLS attack somehow effects the chemicals in my brain and puts me in a 'nervous frenzy'. I can't concentrate. ITCH It also effects the nerve endings on my skin. Sometimes this is in the form of an intense itch that only VERY hard scratching will help. This usually happens right before a bad attack. There is not ANY product on the market that will relieve this. This is an 'itch from within'. Other times the skin feels like I'm wearing a shirt made out of horses hair. (the tail!) These folks with the 'mild' forms don't have the slightest clue what 'mine' is really like. I'm just grateful I didn't see the suggested solutions by people with mild cases when I first joined this group. I would have thought I was in the wrong place for sure! NEWSPAPER ARTICLE I am just VERY GRATEFUL for the medical profession FINALLY recognizing this ailment! I first read about it in a newspaper column in the 1960's. The syndicated doctor " Dr. Lamb " wrote about it and described it and called it Restless Leg Syndrome. I spent the next 25 years trying to 'tell' doctors what I had and what it was called. (Got nowhere with that!!) That's all! Sorry it is so long. Anne Nevil from Georgia
