Guest guest
I am taking most of this from the Enermed brochure, except for my comments which are in brackets and at the end. It is long, but perhaps this might be a source of help for some of us in the future. The Enermed is about the size of a man's wristwatch & is carried/taped next to the skin (my dental patient who wears one for her multiple sclerosis tapes it to her chest beside her sternum). It is a battery operated (my patient replaces the battery 1 time per week), pulsed electro magnetic field generator which delivers a simple, patient specific, safe and non-invasive therapy for the symptomatic relief of a range of physiological conditions for which there is often no conventional therapy. It is currently licensed only in Canada (& I think in Europe) for treatment of patients clinically diagnosed with multiple sclerosis or migraine. It may possibly be beneficial for treatment of sleep disorders, depression, or other chronic problems. (My patient with MS flew to Vancouver, British Columbia for treatment; there is another treatment facility, I think, father East also in Canada). In response to my inquiry to Enermed, Mr. Fraser Lawrie, President of EMD, wrote that until research is done on the other conditions, Enermed will not treat them. It is currently before the FDA in USA for treatment of MS & migraine because this is where the research has already been done. The brochure states, the human brain generates an electrical signal that can be measured by a device known as a " Brain Frequency Analyzer " (BFA). The computer based analyzer does not require any direct electrical attachment to the patient, uses specially designed circuitry to carry out the frequency analysis. People who suffer from specific conditions (Migraines, Multiple Sclerosis, C.S.F., Depression, Sleep Disorders, etc.) generate weak signals in certain frequency bands. The Enermed BFA measures the signal strength over the appropriate range of frequencies and identifies the areas where the signal strength is abnormally low. The Enermed Therapy is patient specific. The Enermed device is programmed to each patient's deficient frequencies as identified during the BFA. The company website is www.intergate.bc.ca./business/enermed/main.html The Enermed device is not regarded as a substitute for the attention of your doctor or medical advisor...Individuals with a pacemaker, some forms of cancer, some forms of heart disease or epilepsy are not eligible for treatment. The device is not worn during pregnancy. The Enermed is to remain more than 12 " away from a partner's pacemaker. My patient got her Enermed just prior to Thanksgiving 1998. Her MS had become very debilitating, and she had discontinued giving piano lessons. She had been taking Cylert. She found the Enermed info by searching the internet, and pursued the information. I see her every 3 months to clean her teeth. She is no longer taking any medication. She said she can think clearly for the first time in years, and 95% of her fatigue is gone. She has resumed teaching piano lessons. The Enermed does not make any claims to improve the disease; it is helpful for relieving her symptoms and makes her life enjoyable again. I was amazed at the difference in her energy level and her feeling of well-being, and would have thought the device to be quackery had I not seen the difference. I have requested the Hoag Hospital Sleep Disorders Center in Newport Beach, CA, where I was diagnosed with RLS & PLMD through an overnight study, conduct a scientific research project on the Enermed for sleep disorders. I just left some information at the Center last week & e-mailed the center yesterday. I hope to participate in a study at Hoag or elsewhere. Best wishes finding something that helps each of us through this forum, , 55, Huntington Beach
