The March 20, 2000, issue of Business Week magazine has an interesting

Special Report on The New Workforce. The articles cover companies that are

benefiting by hiring disabled people, the development of enabling

technologies, and the creation of mechanical body parts. The commentary on

the Americans with Disabilities Act is also good.

Nothing was said about creating new nerves, but scientists at the

University of New Mexico's Artificial Muscle Research Institute are

developing polymer-metal composites that could serve as replacement

muscles! Estimated availability is the year 2019.
