Guest guest
Dear ninette, I am very sorry that you are suffering so with your hip. I would like to mention some of my history with hip pain and rls, in the hopes that I will contribute a little, although not wanting to start up a big controversy about chiropractic care. From early childhood, I've had headaches and one of my hips has always seemed higher than the other. I had a severe whiplash accident at age 18 which seemed to expand headache pain into neck pain. By the time I was 23, I first noticed RLS symptoms. Gradually, over the years, the headaches, the neck pain and the RLS worsened. For many years, every time I've gotten a headache, it 'spreads' all down my side, involving neck, shoulder, hip, sciatic area, and inner leg right down to the heal. Invariably, if the RLS flares up at the same time, I really feel it deep in my hip and sometimes feel like I'm sitting on a hard ball of tension and pain. It often feels like the RLs originates in the hip area. About four years ago, I started going to a chiropractor who only adjusts the C1 vertebra at the base of the scull, using very gentle, non invasive pressure from the heel of his hand. He belongs to NUCCA, the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic assoc. (You can find an article from Triathlon magazine on the process at the following web site: http://psbl.com/hoeller/uca.htm) Leg 'length' is an indicator that they use to determine mis alignment in the neck. In any case, my experience has been that I have A LOT less pain in head, neck, shoulder, and hip when my 'head's on straight'. I can't say that it made the RLS go away, but it helped with the hip pain/ RLS combo. I have no idea if your situation is comparable in any way, and I know chiropractic care is extremely controversial. I would never advise anyone to go into it unless they have done the personal research, and feel comfortable with it. In my case, I was desperate, I had spent years in pain, and was always in some stage of the whole cycle of pain - and I was referred by a doctor. I reads the digest each day, but rarely 'chime in'. Anyway, ninette, I wish you respite from your pain. Margaret,
