Hey Jack!

Glad to have you writing in. Especially since you described a procedure that

resembles what has been proposed to me. And also especially since you're a

guy and mostly girls have been doin' all the chattin' (JUST KIDDING EVERYONE

- no offense to the girls nor any of the guys that do write in, just trying

to put a smile on some faces).

The procedures you described were more in medical language. Would you please

describe them in layman language so that I can understand exactly what you

had done and also what benefit it is expected to have.

Also what kind of a doctor was he - I've heard that DPM's are not the one to

go to for this kind of work.

Larry -- regarding DPM's doing this kind of surgery -- In my experience, a

good surgical podiatrist can do a great job. It's just hard to know if they

are good or not or have the experience with CMT. I found a superb DPM in

Eugene, Oregon, who came with glowing references and at the first visit was

obvious he knew tons about CMT and had done lots of surgery on CMT patients.

Again, shop around, don't be afraid to ask questions, ask for referrals to

patients with your problem who have had surgery, check with the medical

society of your state about any record of complaints, etc.
