Guest guest
Hello from Jack of Norfolk and Washington I also am one not doing much writing. Partially because I haven't been a member long enough (8 wks or so) to know your various situations. I am 59 and had CMR diagnosed about 15 years ago. My daughter has CMT and I think my father does, but he is adament about not discussing it. In answer to the recent question, no, I do not feel resentment about passing it on, nor about receiving it. To me the alternative is non existance. I didn't feel my CMT was severe until recently when my high arches began to roll under more. Nevertheless my pain and limping became more than I wished to put up with. Anyway I found, quite by accident, a doctor in the Norfolk area who tested my weight bearing while I was tied to his computer. He determined that at 170 lbs total, I set the office record on both feet at 380 and 413 pounds per sq inch at the ball under the litttle toe on each foot. I was also told that my arches were the highest he had ever seen. That was about five weeks ago. I have been to at least eight DPM's in past 30 years and none even considered doing this. But. after much soul searching & four second opinions, a week ago I had a triple athrodesis, a plantars fascia release, wedged my heel, brought it around into straight position and put in two stainless screws and two staples. He did not feel it necessary to do a achilles tendon release because after the other changes were done it was relieved anyway. Time will tell if this was a wise choice, but the Doctor is thus far very pleased. I will update for all of you to evaluate your own situations as time passes.
