Guest guest
Welcome Michele. My orthotics go inside my shoes only, nothing up the leg.My orthotic inserts are most definitely padded, with different layers of some sort of rubber stuff, they are supportive, and I also wear New Balance shoes alot, which have a wider toe box (toe area) and have a straight last (from toe to heel is straight) They are very good shoes. They (the orthotics) are molded to conform to my feet, which are both very different in need. They redistribute weight and seem to help with balance, although if I am on my feet alot, my feet do hurt, as they have done my entire life. (was diagnosed with CMT at age 10, am now 47) About work: most workplaces should be accommodating and allow a person to sit. If this can't be done, your husband/you could look into his company retraining him for something to do while sitting, or if he is no longer able to work at all, he would be eligible to file for Social Security Disability benefits. My personal experience with people in Human Resources were that they don't know too much, so I took it upon myself to find out all I could, since I was in management, then, I'd have to 'educate' them! As for high top shoes, well, I swear by my Ugg Boots, they come up mid ankle, are from New Zealand, sheepskin inside, very comfortable.
