The supplement bottle says the 800mcg is 100% of the normal dietary intake,

but she said, I may need as much as 3-4 mg (milligrams) a day to see

improvement. She instructed me not to increase all at once but gradually

build to 3-4 tablets per day. It's only been about a month and I am taking

2400mcg (2.4mg) per day and am seeing a slight improvement. >>

Folic acid is a water soluble B complex vitamin of ubiquitous distribution,

especially in fresh green vegetables (it is also found in beer! ).

Because it is heat labile and water soluble, modern methods of food

preparation frequently result in loss of much of the folate content of food!

Storage in the liver of 5-10 mg of folate can be depleted by 4 months of a

folate free diet. Folate deficiency can cause anemia (back to that good ole'

anemia, iron, ferritin connection).

OBTW, I DO take folic acid everyday! Does it help? Not sure but I don't

think it hurts me either, IMHO. So, I am true to the idea that " it can't

hurt, it might help, so why not? "
