Guest guest
Jill and group, I am running behind on my 'reading'. But I just read your post about starting the St. s Wort. My husband is a pharmacist. We went to a trade show a couple of years ago and attended a lecture given by the 'Natures Resources' Herb Company. It was very impressive. This is a company that sells their products in a pharmacy. (Maybe other places also, check Walmart.) I would recommend buying a brand that is sold in a pharmacy. Your chances of having a product that ACTUALLY has what it says on the label in it are much greater. Some of the products in the health food stores have VERY weird things in them that are NOT listed on the label. (This has also been mentioned many times on this RLS List.) Value Rite also has their own brand. This is the IMPORTANT thing I am going to say. It is NECESSARY that anyone that is going to start taking St. s Wort get OFF the PROZAC BEFORE STARTING THE SJW!!!!!! I can't tell you how strongly this was stressed to the pharmacist at the lecture. (This was 'stressed' by a doctor (MD) that was 'on the phone' for questions from the pharmacist. He was a doctor that is VERY well known for his knowledge on herbs. He has written a BIG reference book (NOT promoting) on herbs. I can't remember his name. HMMMM, maybe I need Ginko. I've read in this list that PROZAC and PAXIL aggravate RLS. Talk to your doctor and pharmacist. A GOOD pharmacist is a gold mine. And much more 'accessible'. It's just important to find a good one and stick with him/her. Don't jump from pharmacy to pharmacy JUST because you might save a few dollars. It is important that they have all your medical drug history on their computer. Also, DON'T go in the store during RUSH hours. (Or the first of the month or the last of the month when it is WILD!) Go at a time when the pharmacist has time to talk to you. He can't do this if there are 15 people waiting for prescriptions (some with crying babies). (THIS if a personal observation by me. I work on the computer in our drug store.) Things are much slower around the middle of the month. (Except during flu season!) ALSO! For those of you that take Echinacea for the common cold. It is a MUST that you take a GOOD multivitamin with it for it to work. I have NOT heard of any herb that will help RLS. Just some stuff that has been on my mind for quite a while. Anne from Georgia I apologize for the long note. Gotta give an grandbaby a bottle! Don't have time to proof read. Bye!
