Levin, M.D.) CC: rlssupport (AT) onelist (DOT) com June Good luck with the new Support Group. If a person is taking l-dopa for Parkinson's Disease, pyridoxine (B-6) can increase the rate of breakdown of the l-dopa in the bloodstream leaving less to cross into the brain. The carbidopa in Sinemet blocks this action of pyridoxine, so Sinemet and pyridoxine can be taken together. Permax (pergolide) has a completely different chemical structure than l-dopa. A search of the literature reveals no interaction between pyridoxine and pergolide. I think that there has been a breakdown in communication somewhere along the line. When you get the Support Group up and running, you will find that misinformation is very common and difficult to deal with. If I am missing something, I would appreciate the education.
