Guest guest
I definitely experience exacerbations with hot weather, and even with too much accumulation of warmth under the covers in any season. It took me a long time (like years) to recognize a strange sleep behavior pattern of mine as part of my RLS: I have to sleep with the lower side/end of the covers untucked b/c the soles of my feet get hot, and then the " jumping " starts; control mechanism = stick one or both feet out from under the covers to get them cool (in extreme cases, I have to uncover the entire lower leg - therefore forget the mummy bag when camping!). It definitely helps for me, and there is a very clear temperature connection. This is hard on my sweet and sainted husband, who is a devoted snuggler - since snuggling increases ambient warmth, and misery often follows for me. In summer we use an air conditioner (colder than he likes it - so snuggling remains possible); in winter, open windows on even the coldest of nights, and I sleep on the " window side " . This gives me some basic logistical control of the RLS symptoms and keeps snuggling within the realm of possibility. (That's on a good night, of course - there are also many when I read standing up in the kitchen, or sleep as best I can on the enclosed and heatless front porch). bonocon (relative newcomer to list)
