Vitamin B-12 Deficiency?

This is an all time record for me - 3 messages in 1

day.

I have had RLS since early childhood and my father had

it also.

The following story is true - hard to believe but I

witnessed it. My father (age around 50 or so at the

time) had dark brown (almost black - no gray) hair -

thick - not sparse. As I walked behind him when he

was sitting at the table, I noticed that he had the

beginnings of a bald spot on his head. I didn't

mention it since I was sure he knew it and didn't need

to have it pointed out to him.

Within just a couple of months, my father lost all of

his hair - including his eyebrows and eyelashes. Then

it grew back - snow white.

He was diagnosed with a Vitamin B-12 deficiency and

given B-12 injections and UV-light therapy. Within

another couple of months, dark brown hair replaced the

white hair completely - including eyebrows and

eyelashes. His hair remained this color until he died

at the age of 79.

When I mentioned this to my neurologist, she had my

Vitamin B-12 level checked and it was low.

I am curious if anyone on the list has knowledge

regarding the effects on the nervous system of Vitamin

B-12 deficiency and if anyone else has had their level

checked and found to be low???

Jane
