Guest guest
My mom first started on sinemet with a doctor who did not understand it. It stopped working so he upped the dose. She was taking larger and larger doses until she was at a nearly toxic dose and she was losing the battle. When it worked she got the best sleep she ever has had which is why she kept taking more and more. But after awhile, she had to be so very careful - if she didn't take it exactly at the right moment, it all got much, much worse. Eventually, it all got worse anyway - called augmentation and rebound effect. She feels that her RLS wouldn't be so bad today if she had not taken it. However, she went on to other meds and now takes mirapex. Unfortunately the mirapex sometimes just fails to work as Dr. Levin warned her. So she now takes an occasional sinemet, something she thought she would never do. But it does work, as long as she does not build up to a larger dose and doesn't take it all the time. It is all a juggling act all the time. Lee,PT Citrus Heights, CA
