Lamar here,

A mother got the following letter from her daughter that was attending a major

university:

" Dear Mom,

I know it's been a long time since I wrote and just wanted to let you know

everything is working out OK, and don't worry about me.They finally let me out,

and Bill says we will get married sometime after the baby comes. He thinks his

lawyer will get him off easier this time. All that happened was a bunch of us

were having a small pot demonstration and the dorm caught on fire. I tried to

get away but was too drunk and got caught. Needless to say this has cost me a

lot, and if you can spare a few thousand it might help. Whatever you do don't

worry. I'll be OK somehow.

Your Daughter

PS: I have NOT been in jail. I don't even know a guy named Bill. I am NOT

pregnant. I do not use drugs or drink, and my money is ok. BUT, I am flunking

algebra and wanted you to look at it in the right perspective. "

Sometimes we with CMT need to look for the other perspectives. I first saw the

above letter in 1965 and remembered it. There are times today that it flashes

back into my memory and helps me to look at things in a different perspective.

There is always something worse.
