Guest guest
Hi Kay, Jodi forwarded your message to the RLS Support Group. We all understand what you are going through. I take Sinemet (dosage slowly increasing due to daytime symptoms) and Mirapex. There are other medications available. Do you have a neurologist? You need to find someone who either knows how to treat RLS or is willing to find out how to treat it. I had gotten to the point that on Monday night I would take 2 sleeping pills, Tuesday I just would stay up all night, and Wednesday I would take a medicine called Klonopin (anti-convulsant). I had to take so much Klonopin that I couldn't walk straight and trying to wake up in the morning was next to impossible. My neurologist is an expert in RLS and other sleep disorders. She told me that Sinemet will usually stop working at some point. However, for most people if you stay off of it for awhile, you can go back on it and get relief again. I dread the day when Sinemet stops working for me - and I fear that it is not far away. I was in a meeting today and I had to just get up and leave - could not stay still. Please come and join our group - the only people I have ever talked to who have RLS are in this group. People just don't understand what it is like to have this disorder - the name Restless Leg Syndrome just doesn't sound serious - but you and I and the others in the group know that it can wreck your health (mental and physical). Hope to hear from you and hope to see you in our group. Jane hickorywind_98@...>
