Guest guest
Diane, I have had similar experiences with caffeine. If a drink more than one cup of coffee per day, my rls and insomnia get considerably worse. However, if I drink a cup of coffee at 4 or 5 in the morning (after a no-sleeper) I can often nap (on the sofa) for a couple of hours. My theory is that rls gets most severe, for me, when I am totally relaxed. The immediate jolt of caffeine undoes the relaxed state long enough to stop the rls and let my body sleep. Unfortunately, this does not always work, but on those few occasions, it is most welcome,
