Guest guest
Hi All, Marc I fell on the job its been about 6 yrs ago and yes since then I can tell that I have progressed quite a bit. I have fell out in my yard twice since then and it seems to take some time for me to get past the soreness stage. I have chronic pain I just do my best to deal with it although I take Norflex which for me seems to do the trick when it gets to annoying. My lower extremities have definatly become much worse in the past 2 yrs. My Dr. told me to be careful not to fall (Like I want to). Its something you deal with everyday, I am constantly watching my feet. I worry more about my Grandson and wish there was more that could be done for him. Guest guest
<< Here is the question: How quickly have the rest of you progressed? >> My mom was not diagnosed while she was living, but she had her first sign of weakness when she was in her 70s. By the time she was 86 she was bedridden. I think she progressed so fast because her docs told her she would get strong if exercised vigorously. I could see her body failing fast, getting worn down in a relatively short time from all that exercise. She always did what a doc told her to do, and she paid dearly. Mom had been very active all her life, so it wasn't as if she was out of shape. We only knew what caused her " creeping paralysis " when I was diagnosed the year after she passed away. On the other hand, I know of people who have CMT for decades and never progress very much. And I know of countless people who fall between those extremes. There is NO way to predict a person's progression. We are all different. Even within a family we are all different. Guest guest
, I was diagnosed at age 10. As for progression happening quickly, it hasn't happened that way for me. I am 47 now and just a few years ago got in-shoe orthotic inserts to help with walking and balance. Actually when I was 16 I thought my CMT was the worse. Drinking and pot I think made me worse for awhile, once I got clean and sober, my CMT really didn't bother me, except for tremors. Neither parent or other family members have it. And I don't know what 'type' I have. As far as I can remember since I was 11, I have had foot pain. As a teenager I had muscle spacisity at night when I was tired. Rest up, , take care of yourself. No one knows what the future holds. Gretchen
