I think one of the original studies related to RLS should a " nice " correlation between ferritin levels and RLS symptoms. As your ferritin level increases from 50 to 100, the symptoms of RLS improved. This is why one of the earliest treatments of RLS included iron supplements. However, be forewarned that too much iron can be harmful, especially to us older guys. The bottom line is just because your ferritin level is " within normal limits " that does not mean you would not benefit from iron supplementation. A " RLS knowledgeable " doctor knows this.
