Guest guest
You can be diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood. Current estimates are that 30 to 50% of children with ADHD continue to have the disorder into adulthood. It can be diagnosed through clinical interview and/or psychological testing (individuals with ADHD perform differently on a variety of cognitive tasks). Dyslexia is diagnosed via cognitive testing. It would be best to see a psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D. --- both are doctoral degrees in psychology) versus a psychiatrist (M.D.) as psychologists are the professionals who specialize in cognitive testing (which is needed for the dyslexia diagnosis). That way you can get both evaluated/diagnosed at once. A psychiatrist can diagnose the ADHD, but would not be able to evaluate you for the dyslexia. ---Sharon, 33, land
