Re: ferritin blood level

Hi Everyone,

I just got off the phone with my doctor (primary care

physician) - the results of my blood tests (blood

drawn Tuesday) - severe anemia - very low ferritin

level and a high binding hemoglobin. My neurologist

tacked on the ferritin blood level to the tests that

were prescribed by my psychiatrist because of data

suggesting a connection between low ferritin (storage

iron) and RLS.

I am to take Feosol (iron supplement, 325 mg,

over-the-counter drug) 3 times a day (not as the

directions on the bottle which say to take with food)

- I am to take the tablets between meals - I suppose

this is to maximize the absorption.

The next step is to determine the cause of my anemia -

since my primary care physician is board-certified in

hematology as well as internal medicine, oncology, and

I forget the fourth area, maybe I won't have to go to

still another specialist!

Meanwhile I am to add Neurontin to my Sinamet/Mirapex

business that I take at night which means that the

message I posted a couple of hours ago about taking

Trazadone is retrospective as it has now been

discontinued.

It wil be interesting to see if my RLS improves as my

anemia is resolved - of course I have also switched

meds - so who will know what is going on?

Before wishing everyone a good night's rest, I want to

thank Jodi for the wonderful job she has done with

this group. I know that you have been through a lot

recently Jodi and I respect your decision - you have

to take care of your dear self now. I just wish that

it had not come to this. Let's all try (myself

included right up front) to get back to being the

support group I know we really are - I know there have

been bumps in the road - some before I joined and some

since - but the last few weeks have been too much for

almost all of us - we need this group - I know I do -

you are the only people I know (since my father died)

who know what it is to live with this disorder and I

value and respect each of you.

Now everyone - I wish for you deep sleep and sweet

dreams!

Jane
