Guest guest
Hi to everyone, I just joined the group yesterday or was it early this morning? I did not get much sleep last night which I'm sure most of you can identify with ... I've had RLS since I was a small child. My father had it also ... he showed me how to do isometric type leg stretches before I started to school. The RLS almost disappeared for 30 years, then gradually began to reemerge. Now it's every night and sometimes (increasingly so) during the day. I take Sinemet and Mirapox (sp) ... but sometimes the maximum prescribed dosage doesn't provide enough relief for me to be able to go to sleep. My now ex-boyfriend used to get so irritated with me because I sometimes had trouble keeping still, for example at movies. I would take my medicine with me, but it takes a while to act. I don't think he believed or understood anything I tried to explain about RLS. The name " restless leg syndrome " sounds so innocuous, but the disorder is not. Mine seems to be getting worse and my daytime symptoms are on the increase. I am nervous when I have to attend meetings at my job, which is a frequent obligation. I also understand that the meds (especially Sinemet) lose their effectiveness ... what then? Does anyone have suggestions re what time of day I should take my 3 pills of each med ... to help at night and also to not exacerbate daytime symptoms? Have any of you experienced the type of reaction on the part of others to your description of RLS (hundreds of bugs crawling around inside your legs, etc.) ... that is that it's not a real problem, everyone has this kind of restles feeling from time to time ... just ignore it ....
