Guest guest
Hi Kathleen and Kat, everyone else too: throughout my CMT life one of the only sports I have been able to do well is biking.(swimming too) I don't go on long rides, and I do go outside in the fresh air. I like the feeling of wind and yes, even rain on my face and in my hair (ok so this is So. California!) I don't know if this has helped my CMT but I don't think it has made it worse. I have calf muscles, have always had them. And lately my biking has been on an irregular basis just due to the unexplained slow-to-heal-pulled muscle. I have noticed in the last 10 years or so that the height of my bike seat can affect the 'strain' on my back. So, for anyone doing it, check with your local 'bi-chaistrists' (bike shop) about what is the right seat height for you. One of my most beautiful rides one afternoon when I lived in Wyoming was riding for 13 miles along side a herd of antelope on a country road. It was exhilarating. Only after I was home did I realize at any given moment they could have jumped over me or in front of me! Gretchen
