sleep study for my daughter

Hello All,

My daughter, , finally had her appt. w/ the pedi-sleep Dr. The Dr. was

exellent and very thorough. As I suspected, Melatonin is a no-no, her Neuro

had suggested that and I had just yes'd her. Anyway, it seems as though in

addition to RLS, she may also have Narcolepsy and has an enlarged

Thyroid.

The last time I had behavior problems with was approx. 1 1/2 yrs ago

after she had passed out at the hairdressers-there was also suspected seizure

activity, but that was never confirmed. It's just that for a teenager, these

types of episodes are NOT kewl!! I'm hoping that since she's alittle older,

she won't do anything stupid. As of now, doesn't want to talk about this

at all. She's also afraid that she won't be able to get her liscence if she

has a dx of Narcolepsy. We'll see.She's just a bit overwhelmed now.Then I

have my 10 yr old with sleep problems also. He's next for an appt with the

sleep clinic.

I'll tell ya though, I was really impressed with the Dr.. Being associated

with this group and a reciever of the Newsletter, I sometimes think we know

more than some Dr's. This Doc knew her stuff!! What a diffrence it makes when

they do :) I should be getting a call from the clinic next week for her sleep

study and also, they want to do a daytime study as well. When she's ready I'll

sit down with her and explain how my sleep study went. Maybe they'll allow me

to stay with her-even for an adult a sleep study can be unnerving.

My nerve block finally wore off :( My next appt isn't until the 21rst-I

can't wait ! It was sooo nice not having that pain. You just don't know.

Maybe this next one will last alittle longer, but I'll take what I can get.

Well, take care all and sleep well le R.I.
