Guest guest
<< , I'll say I have that symptom! It doesn't matter how long I sleep, I am always fatigued and tired too! >> This is how that is explained by another CMTer, an occupational therapist. " Normal nerves have hundreds of 'wires' conducting the electrical message. With many CMTers, the message is very slow in being conducted. The problem is that not only is the message very slow, there are barely any 'wires' conducting the message. So, the body is having to work a lot harder to send messages down the few wires left. The CMTer is experiencing such fatigue because her or his body is having to work so hard to send these messages. Guest guest
The problem with this is that wrong sleeping could cause pain. Three years ago my doctor diagnosed fibromyalgia and one of the symptoms is fatigue after long hours of sleeping and pain because of wrong sleeping. Today I believe that I don' t have " real " fibromyalgia I more guess these symptoms come from cmt. > , I'll say I have that symptom! Guest guest
I always seem to feel tired also. Getting up at 4:30 am each morning does not help (today 3:30 am with the time change). If I sleep in in the morning until 7:00 - 7:30 am, I feel so much better. By the time I get home from work around 5:15 - 5:30 pm or sometimes not until 6:00 pm I am exhausted. Sometimes too much to do even the smallest of tasks. I walk around like a zombie saying I need to do things, but nothing get accomplished. Sometimes a little nap will revive me and I get up and then do a few things, although that is a bit much since it is so late. I find that by Friday night I am just down entirely, from getting up so early each day. If I have a day off during the week or if I go in late I can sometimes catch up. On the weekends I just take a nap if I am tired. That helps alot to revive me. I know that pacing yourself is the best advice, but that is not easy when you work a full week and have such little time on the weekends to do everything. Relaxation problems Hi to everyone, I' d would like to know if other people with cmt have the same relaxation problems as I have. My muscles are very tense and it is not possible to relax them for a longer time. At the moment I have massages twice a week but the massage only helps for a few hours. One day later it is the same again. Warm water also doesn' t work for a longer time. I ask myself if this is a general muscle problem because our muscles get less nerve impulses than the muscles from healthy people. I also guess that wrong sleeping could be a reason. I can sleep for ten to twelve hours but I am still tired in the morning. Does anybody else have these problems?? Bye,

Guest guest
<< My muscles never seem to relax even when I'm sleeping and I think maybe I need to take a muscle relaxer when I go to bed instead of sleeping pills to relieve the tense muscles!!! Maybe I would feel better the next morning if I did this !!! >> Sounds good to me. Sleeping pills cause an unnatural sleep, so a person is often not rested. It would be worth a try I bet. Good luck. Guest guest
Hey Ya'll: Kim here!!! Yes, I have the muscle tense problem, and no matter how much sleep or not enough sleep I get, I'm exhausted when I get up !!! I went to my neurologist last Wed. and we have been discussing my sleep problems and I have tried several different sleep aids but still only sleep 3-4 hours a night !!! I see I am not alone with these problems !!! I also think I am going at this all wrong !!! My muscles never seem to relax even when I'm sleeping and I think maybe I need to take a muscle relaxer when I go to bed instead of sleeping pills to relieve the tense muscles!!! Maybe I would feel better the next morning if I did this !!! Any comments on this idea ??? I will talk to my doctor about this the next time I see him!!! Ya'll have a nice relaxing day !!! Guest guest
Me too, I often wondered if it was just me, but I guess not. I do however feel a bit better when I can sleep longer. Perhaps it is the strain that we put on all our muscles -- whether we have AFO's or not, it is still more difficult for CMT people to get around, perhaps we all just work harder at what everyone else does matter of factly.
