Guest guest
Still one of the hardest places to use any " tricks " are in movies and meetings..where you can't move around a lot or don't want to call attention to yourself. Maybe it's a good time for a bunch of us to offer some tips of things we've found that help. For example: On airplanes...getting on LAST, taking aisle seats, using earphones and music Movies...eating LOTS of popcorn just to stay busy, sucking on suckers, aisle seats or leaving empty seats next to you....not sitting down until the movie is ready to start (and the previews are over!) Reading....sitting on vibrating or heating pads, rocking, suckers, earphones Meetings....ehhhhh, just rip your hair out and look cross eyed. I think that's the best tip we've come up with, to date. Anyone else want to add to this? Go for it!!!! Just don't add unleaded to it! Guest guest
Hi Jill, I'm so happy that I joined this group. Everyone is so friendly. Until I met you guys, I'd never talked to anyone, except my father and a couple of physicians, who had ever heard of RLS. Most people I've tried to explain it to (legs asleep - that kind of feeling - itching sensation inside legs - bugs or something moving up and down inside legs) think it's not a significant problem, it's just a restless feeling like everyone gets. My ex-boyfriend got so irritated with me when I would have to get up and walk or when I would keep shifting around or rubbing my legs or making sure I had my Sinimet with me in case I needed it. He really thought I was making a big deal of nothing and disapproved of what he considered my dependence on drugs, Mirapex in addition to Sinimet. Thanks for the hints you gave me. I've tried the heating pad and it does help some. I do leg stretches but it doesn't help very much. The other day I was in a 3 hr meeting and I just had to leave ... I kept moving my legs, shifting position, etc. and I was getting looks from people. Then I was " reprimanded " for leaving after 1 1/2 hr. - I had taken Sinimet before the meeting (I only had one with me since I'm concerned about taking it in the daytime) ... I already take 3 to 4 at night. Anyhow, it is just so great to finally talk to people who know how awful this thing can be and who believe me and understand. You can be sure that if I find anything that helps me, I'll pass it on asap. Nice to hear from you, janegf@... ---Jill Gunzel wrote: > > > > Still one of the hardest places to use any " tricks " are in movies and > meetings..where you can't move around a lot or don't want to call attention > to yourself.
