Strokes and CMT

Do you think that CMTers are more prone to having strokes and heart

attacks? It has been a couple of weeks since I wrote and told you all

about the tingleness and pain I was having in my face and neck and

about my trip to the ER because I was having chest pain. My thalium

treadmill test came back normal, but I am still having these

sensations that are driving me crazy! I quit smoking for several

days

and the tingleness almost went away except for a little in my neck.

I

thought I would see what happened when I smoked a couple of

cigarettes

yesterday. I wish I had never done it because the sensation is back

full force on both sides of my face and neck. I also get alternate

feelings running through my body that are hot, then cold. Also, I am

feeling a whole lot weaker in my legs and arms since the tingleness

is

worse. I am so afraid that I have a blockage, or and impending

stroke.

I have had several episodes like this over the last year, but the

symptoms usually only lasted a day or so. I am to afraid to even

think

about smoking! Because my symptoms got so much worse again after

smoking it leads me to believe that there is something seriously wrong

with my arteries. I am suppose to go back to the dr. next week and he

will probably send me for more tests. I probably need to have an

arteriorgram done but they can be very dangerous.

The dr. at the ER told me he thought that the sensations I was

feeling

in my neck, face and shoulders was caused from the CMT and he didn't

think it had anything to do with my heart or any blockages. He felt

that basically these symptoms were the same type of feelings that I

get in my legs, feet, arms and hands and that it all tied in together.

I hope he is right! Have any of you had this happen to you?

Cindy
