Guest guest
" Meditation is as simple and easy as we allow it to be. " Sam Friend A certain Zen teacher began each day at dawn with a walk in his garden. Every morning he would look for the most perfect flower. Having found his blossom for the day, he would meditate on its beauty and wholeness. That flower helped set his internal pace and attitude for the day. What symbol or image do we find most beautiful or comforting? What would happen to the rhythm of our day if we began each morning with the actual or imagined company of this symbol as our meditative guide? Shutting out of the rest of the world to meditate lowers stress and improves mood. Thirty days of consistent meditation can elicit positive change in our lives. The simpler the meditation--the fewer the rules or guidelines--the better. If we take the time to sit still, breathe easily, and focus on something comforting, our body and spirit will slow down and teach us how to be at peace -- no matter what. Provers 3:5-6Learning to trust in the Lord and actually do it is a lesson that takes alife time. This trusting is not a one time act. We have to trustrepeatedly. We humans tend to think we have the answers. We cannot imaginethat the path we have chosen is not the right one. We may be surprised tolearn that people all over the world do not see things exactly the way wedo. We may be less shocked that God does not find every choice we makeperfect. But that is the way we act. We plow ahead and expect God to blessour choices instead of seeking his way first.Trusting the Lord with all our heart requires some giving up on our part.We have to put away some of our preconceived notions. We have to learnabout the ways of God. We are asked to acknowledge God in all parts of ourlives before we strike out on a path. As the church confession says, wehave to seek him in thought, word and deed. It asks us to slow down and letGod be our shepherd. The sheep leading the shepherd doesn't work so well.God knows the future. God sees farther down the path than we do. Our lifelong task is to ask directions and trust.Lord, forgive us for drawing our own maps for our lives. We ask you to leadus. Help us learn to trust you more and more each day and in each choice.------ End of Forwarded Message
