I personally think that many many people who suffer from RLS are

mis-diagnosed as having depression.

Also, most of us with RLS appear very anxious to our docs since generalized

anxiety disorder is characterized by excessive worry, muscle tension,

restlessness, fatiguability, insomnia, impaired concentration and

irritability. Geez, that describes a lot of what us RLS'ers probably look

like to others, eh? :)

Anyhow, docs are taught that when depression and anxiety occur together,

antidepressants are the treatment of choice!

As you can imagine, many of the antidepressants only aggrevate our RLS and

hence, our " depression & anxiety " seem to worsen.........and so on. You can

see how some docs could be led astray by our predicament if they don't take

the time to really really listen to our complaints.
