Guest guest
Hello everyone, Today I went to my first Physical Therapy session for my 'supposed' buldging disc. The PT knew about CMT and it was a wonderful relief not to have to 'educate' someone new about it. He put my in more positions and stretches than I knew existed. He measured my legs to hips, and felt hips deep down. None of this hurt. He said that it doesn't appear I have a buldging disc because all that he put me through would have had me screaming in pain. He said it seems that the muscles in my right hip are weak because the left hip is tilted forward and also my right leg to hip is 3/4 inch longer. This was like a revelation to me! After 5 months of doctors, pain meds, neuros and possible surgery, this was also happy news! I am going to be having PT to strengthen hip muscles for about 10 weeks. He also gave me a 10 minutes TENS treatment and is going to get me one for home use. I was lying down on an ice/gel pack getting it and it really felt good. When I got up to walk out of there, I swear I felt better.I have 'homework' to do twice a day until I go back Monday. I have had PT twice in my life before, one for car accident neck-related injuries, and one for CMT stretching when I was a teen. My question is this: Has anyone learned anything interesting about their body and CMT as a result of PT and also do you think PT helps?
