Guest guest
Hi Cindy, What Mark said about 'creativity' and 'risk taking' goes along way! Also Becky, Mark's and Dawn's posts about self-esteem/confidence will show how attitude changes when acceptance increases. Something as simple as ironing while sitting down can help if your feet/legs get tired. I've had CMT since childhood and not much progression, I used to freak out the progression would happen 'overnight'. Not true. Matter of fact I was in much worse shape when I was 16 than I am now at 47. LOL. Now I am just getting older! I walk, bike, travel, work, garden, etc. Like Kat said everyone of us with CMT is so different. There are meds for pain, there is help for the fatigue. Are you seeing neurologist/or orthopedist/ or orthotist? Or MDA people - they help people with CMT. There are some good books on managing chronic illness from hazelden.org and Senoff wrote one of Peripheral Neuropathy available from Amazon or and Noble. His book is basic PN stuff, of which CMT is one PN. There is a new book coming out this Fall too especially about living POSITIVE and happy lives with CMT.
