Guest guest
Hi , A couple of years ago, I tried Kava - both in the capsule form and also liquid made from grinding the root. Both seemed to have muscle relaxant properties, and from some reading and searching I learned Kava is used in some countries like Valium. The only problem I had with Kava was that I got a little bit of that " stoned " feeling in my head! lol The rest of me felt great! Kava is a South Pacific herb (in the black pepper family), and there is usually drank as a beverage in island ceremonies. The Kava root is sort of like a big fat white carrot type of thing, the root is ground down into a fine brown powder. Then it is mixed with water and drank. It has a light 'peppery' taste. Here in the US I found the Kava capsules in the health food store. I think the leaves are used to, for tea, but I didn't try it that way. In the bigger U.S. cities, the Kava roots are sold where there are South Pacific communities - in their markets. Kava has been said to help with calming nerves, combating depression, helping with sleep, fighting fatigue, and helping anxiety. For more about it look at http://www.KavaRoot.com I do not know of anyone else with CMT who has tried it. And it is always a good idea to be careful with any herbs, due to non-FDA regulation. Guest guest
I tried Kava before and it had no effect on me. I don't like taking prescription drugs for my feet and hand pain and cramps. I have found that marijuana can help alot with muscle cramps and pain but it is " illegal " . Anyone know if marijuana can be especially bad for CMT? I know alcohol is bad cause it can suppress critical muscle function further and tastes bad. I think that marijuana should be legal for medicinal purposes it helps me with muscle cramps pain and depression.
