Guest guest
<< Does anyone know of PGD that has been done specifically for CMT as of yet? >> Do you know the type of CMT involved? Unless it is types 1A, X-linked, or perhaps 1B, there is NO way to detect it genetically. There are more than 20 types of CMT already classified, but most of them are NOT found through genetic tests yet. Last I heard trying to do the PGD was not worth the risk even on the above types. Things can change. Have you asked Dr. Bird's office at the UW? Is it you or Darren who carries the CMT gene? Welcome to the group. Guest guest
Hello all! My husband and I are new to the list - I have CMT1A. We have started to look for places that are capable of performing PGD (pre-genetic-diagnosis) so that we can prevent having children with CMT. We live in the PacNW (Seattle-area). Does anyone know of PGD that has been done specifically for CMT as of yet? Thanks!
