Guest guest
Hi Gloria and June, Here is a link that has the information that I used to decide which medications to try. Through the last several years I have been on Klonopin, Lorazepam, Sinemet, and a few others that I can't even remember. The Sinemet was the first to really give me relief, but as you have heard it has a rebound effect. I heard that Permax doesn't have that problem. It was wonderful to find relief because It was so bad on Sinemet that it was 'life consuming " I couldn't go 5 minutes in the car to get to the store etc. I was house bound and literally went for about a year with about 2 hours sleep a night. I was in tears walking the house and jumping up and down trying to get relief. I have a wonderful life three wonderful kids in college am 40 years old have been happily married for 25 years and for me to be so miserable that I wanted to end my life because I was in torture from this thing called rls, I can say you have no choice to be consumed by it. I went on Permax and did find relief, but for me it caused really bad nausea and knocked me out. Which was a fair exchange for me, at least I felt like I could " go on " . But after 2 years of this, maybe I'm getting spoiled but I wanted a little better quality of life than I've been having. I felt like I only had a few hours of quality time to get anything acomplished in the day. I get up at 4:30 with mild symptoms, have some productive hours till anywhere from 2:00 to 5:00 then am forced to take the Permax. and that was the end of my day. I couldn't even sit down and read a book without it, but then with it I couldn't either because it just knocked me out. Then I read about new medications, and decided to try them out. I put it off for a year because the thought of even one day without possible relief was unbearable to me. I got brave about a week ago when I had my appointment with my neurologist and told her I wanted to try the Mirapex. She gave me a sample and all I can say is that I feel like I have a life back. It doesn't knock me out, or make me nauseated, and it controls my rls better than the Permax did. For me it worked immediately It didn't take days to get into my system so if it isn't working for you may have to try something else. It sounds like there have been liver problems, I'm missed something here and would like to know more about that. But for now, for me, even if that is something I will have to deal with in the future, I have no choice but to take it to have any kind of " quality of life " . Here is the link that has information on all the drugs that are being used to treat RLS. It was a big help to me and it is something you can print and take to your DR. to educate him. http://www.ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/somno/rlsrx.htm Good luck, Cindy WA So many questions about RLS >From: Gbello5353@... > >ALthough RLS is not new to me ( I have experienced it since 1964) there is >much about this syndrome that IS new to me.
