So many questions about RLS

ALthough RLS is not new to me ( I have experienced it since 1964) there is

much about this syndrome that IS new to me. I read the letters from our group

members and I realize that I need to learn what some of the terms mean and

more about the medications that are being prescribed and taken. My GP is

emapthetic, however, he probably knows very little about this affliction. I

must learn more about what research has been done and what treatment regimens

have been prescribed so that I can work more effectively with my doctor in

terms of my treatment. He preribed Sinemet only because I read of this in the

JAMA and approached him with this as a possible help for me. This is all

before I became aware of this support group on-line. Now, I read from other

members that Sinemet can lose its effectiveness and the RLS can become worse.

WHAT A BUMMER. I have been on Sinemet for 2 weeks and have been in

heaven....no more symptoms and I can sleep. But I get slight headaches and the

sleep is too heavy and not normal. I do not want to take a drug if there is a

different TX plan.

I know what RLS is but what is RLS/PLMD?

What is a " proper treatment regimen " that refers to in his message

dated 3-25-99?

Where can I get reference material on all of this?

I know I have many questions. I am so overwhelmed with the discovery of this

support group. I feel like a foreigner.
