Guest guest
, I have been taking Neurontin for 1 year. It took away the 'electrial type' impulses/pain in my legs. I got up to 900mg dose in 1 weekend. At first you might feel real tired, groggy like, so until you get to your regular dose, don't plan on doing much. If you see 'spots' stop taking it and call your Dr. It will not cause you to eat Twinkies, matter of fact, I lost weight when I started taking it. I was told to drink alot of water with it. The only thing is not to take Malox or another type product within 2 hours of your Neurontin dose. Malox cuts the effectiveness of it. Neurontin is classified as an anti-epileptic drugs, however, it has been found to reduce nerve pain in 1/3 of patients. This is because it stops overactive nerves in the brain. I was an 'instant responder' - felt better within a day or two, meaning electrical pain stopped. Some people take 4-6 months to feel effects, and still another 1/3 it doesn't work for. There are some Neurontin articles under our CMTUS 'links' section. However, no CMT specific and Neurontin articles have been found - at least by me. We also have a CMTNeurontin list at egroups now http://www.egroups.com/group/CMTNeurontin Gretchen
