Guest guest
Hi again , I wear a dress for church too, although lately, have taken to slacks, as we kneel, etc. Now, as for the kneeling, sometimes I cannot do it, so I kind of modify it, which the Pastor say is OK, due to my needs. So, after the service, people have come up to me and said I am being disrectful by not kneeling, when I mentioned simple 'I have a health condition...' they just look at me in disbelief, since no part of me LOOKS like it. I guess my expectations for church people are higher, but they are human too. I even sit up front, since it is a big, long church, and for communion, it is easier for me to walk a shorter way. So I guess more people see me, since I am not hidden in the back. One time 2 ladies told me I should not wear tennis shoes in church. Again I simply said I had 'foot problems'. They replied 'that is an excuse for sloth' and walked away. I wear my New Balance shoes in church because 1) my orthotics are in them, and since this church is an old mission, we have old tile floors that are unstable to walk on. I have tried to find other more modern churches, but the closest is about 20 miles away. I guess I just have to pray for these people and their attitudes, but that is a hard one. But oh! When they need 'help' with church bake sales or all kinds of other things, like the carnival, who do you think is called?
