Happy New Year to all of you. I thought I would share with the group about

something I just found out that helped me. I was up all night last night, so

tired today but couldn't get to sleep due to my RLS. The temperature got up in

the 40's today here in Missouri, so I thought I would go sit in my hot tub.

Came back in the house crawled into bed and had the best two hours of sleep

that I have had in along time. Later on early evening I was getting shaking

again, went out and sat in it again, for about 15 minutes and came back in a

slept a while longer. My pain in my leg and hip is gone and I could probably

sleep tonight had I not had that long nap this afternoon. LOL But I feel

great. Hope it helps someone else.

hot tubs sound nice but the winter can be a problem, going out in the

cold to get warm...we opted for a 2 person jacuzzi when we did the bath

so I could stretch out, has 2 jets, wish there were more but some days

they feel good, some days I'm too sore to sit in front of it, the do

adjust or I just turn them off and soak. I let the water out as I rub a

sponge around it so it does not take a lot of cleaning. We have a whole

house water filter so there is no chlorine in it to be a problem as well.

Chlorine shuts down the thyroid gland...we did not realize there were

other ways to clean water in pools till I did the research. I like the

taste better of the filtered water, we had the plumber bypass the outside

lines so only the inside is filetered. I opted for my laundry to be in

cleaner water as there are chemical residues from them as well.

The tub is our way to escape from the busy world with teens, they know we

are there but to give us time, I take my magazines and a snack, my

husband likes just the quiet time.

warm water exercise is great if you can join a group...must be heated so

the muscles relax says the Arthritis foundation.

so have fun with what you decide!

Blessings,

Marie

Hi Marie!

That sounds like a wonderful bathroom!!! I'll have to re-do my bathroom one of

these days and I will look for a nice tub too.

My hottub does not have chlorine in it all all. I hate that smell.

I use a non-chlorine shock treatment every once in a while to disinfect.

Theoretically you don't have to do that.

I don't use the other chemicals either. I would only do that if it would void

the warranty. My hot tub is not under warranty anymore anyway.

I live in Colorado (!!) and my hot tub is outside, not even covered yet. And it

is great. I have slippers and a big fluffy robe. You walk outside and get in,

there is not really enough time to really feel cold. I also keep the hot tub a

little warmer than recommended in winter. Then you are really really hot, get

out, put on the robe, close the cover, and go inside. It doesn't bother me, and

I am always the one to be cold!!

Keeping it clean is not as much work as I thought!! I already don't do much for

chemicals. When I hose the filters off with the hose it takes about an hour or

two, and I do that once a month. I was thinking about getting a second set of

filters, then I can just change the filters and clean them by soaking.

The only time I had a lot of work with my hot tub was when I soaked the filters

in cleaning solution, and one of them wasn't all the way clean, the hot tub

looked like a bubblt bath!! I had to drain it and rinse it out and fill it

again. That was stupid in the first place, but that was the only time I had a

lot of work with it.

Now, I am thinking about a bigger nicer bathtub, too, but the water heater is

barely big enough to fill a small bathtub.

Take care everybody!!
