Guest guest
Hi Gang, My mother has an appointment at her neurologist tomorrow morning. She already takes Sinemet but for Parkinson's Disease. She also has RLS. However, for the meantime, her RLS symptoms have come under good control since her abysmally low FERRITIN LEVEL (8) has come up plus B-12 shots (deficient) and ULTRAM before bed time (also helps back pain she frequently has). Mom's RLS symptoms had been severe before I jumped in with both feet to find help for her through this Cyberspace Support Group, helping form a RLS Group in Central Florida, etc. She is 81. My Mom is going to ask her neurologist, sorry I am so late in asking for your help, for a prescription for Mirapex or Requip for her Parkinson's symptoms which have progressively gotten worse. I have run off a bevy of things I was able to find on the Internet on each for her also. However, those who take it, in my opinion, are often the best source of information! She has already tried Premax but had too many side effects from it and Tasmar. Because of the profound liver problems reported by some who have taken Tasmar, she was told to stop by her neurologist without providing another agonist, which I question. If you have taken or presently take Mirapex (only reports I remember several of you mentioning was insomnia but not due to RLS; the Sinemet often puts her to sleep so that might balance that out). Or, Requip, what side effects you had and dosages of each you take or were taking. Granted, she might have to take gradually higher doses then RLS patients would for Parkinson. Mom needs some help and encouragement on this. At least Mirapex has been out since 7-2-97 and Requip, 9--22-97; not a whole lot of time but longer then Tasmar which had been out only a few months when she started it. Since many of you are taking Mirapex and I assume a few Requip, rather then deluge the support group, feel free to E-mail me directly (Sursiliimp@...). I will send out a compilation of the responses. Thanks so much for what you can do to try to help my Mom. Barbara
