Guest guest
Welcome Liz and . I am Barbara from Bethesda, land (part of Washington,DC metro area). My 9 year old daughter, Alice, has CMT Type 2. She was diagnosed at age 7. No one else in our family has CMT -- we adopted Alice. On May 3 she had surgery to correct foot deformities -- bilateral posterior tibial tendon transfers and plantar fascias releases. Her casts came off 2 weeks ago and her calves are skinny and weak. At least for the time being, she needs to wear heavy duty articulated AFOs. She starts PT this week and we hope she can develope her calf muscles and learn to dorsiflex her feet so that she can walk with a heel-toe gait. Have you had any surgeries? If so, what was the recovery like? Do you have any advice I can pass on to my daughter? Liz, we have another teenager in the group from Canada and a young man (age 19) from England. Again, welcome to you both.
