I for one have never seen a Neurologist. I have seen a Internal Medicine doc

(primary), a pulmonologist/sleep specialist, another pulmonologist/sleep

specialist, and I got the best results after seeing a psychiatrist who

specializes in sleep disorders.

I thought about seeing a Neurologist but when I had a " side walk " consult and

the very first words out of his mouth were: " sinimet, sinimet, sinimet,

sinimet.... " ; I said

thanks but no thanks! I had already read enough about RLS to know that I

needed a better solution.

Claude:It sounds like neuropsychological testing. I have gone through it before and it is very time consuming. They are looking to see where your cognitive issues are such as multitasking, memory etc. I am getting ready to go through it again, because my cognition is decreasing but I chose a different doctor this time. The first on told me my issues were emotional from a traumatic childhood, but two weeks later I was diagnosed with a neurogenic bladder. This cannot be faked and it is not caused by "traumatic emotions". I just don't by into that bullcrap anymore. Well you got more than you asked for but just be careful. If you have a doctor that tries to pin it all on emotions, get a second opinion. Hi, I had that test too. Its done by a psychologist. I forget the name of it (go figure). But it tests your short term memory, cognitive skills, etc. Your right, it is a long test and very tiring. It gives you a "mental workout". So make sure you get a good night sleep beforehand and you will definitely need a nap after! Debbie wrote: That sounds like the neuro psyche test I took. It hadalot of matching blocks sometimes with instructions & sometimes you had to figure it out for yourself. Packa lunch if it is that test because mine lasted about 4hours. They also read me stories & I had to answerquestions

& repeat what I had heard.grannylunatic@...__________________________________________________

She is

ordering yet another MRI for my brain and spine and blood work to check

my thyroid. She also mentioned some kind of test for me to take that

has something to do with puzzles or something like that for my skills

to analyze things, does anyone know what type of test this may be and

can you tell me anything about it?

This testing is Neuropsych testing. The individual tests require different parts of the brain to function to complete the tests, so if there is any misfires going on-- they can figure out what areas are being effected.

This was the most important one for me, I don't have the plaques or granulomas that show up on scans, but I do have vasculitis that has effected my executive function (frontal lobe) portion of my brain. It's what causes my dementia and loss of problem solving skills.

There are some posts that I've done about Neuropsych testing both in the ARCHIVES and in the LINKS.

Those addresses are at the bottom of this and every email that goes out from the group.

,A neurogenic bladder means your brain and bladder are not talking like they should. I have an overactive bladder and then by the time evening rolls around I am unable to urinate. I have been on some meds for this but they stopped right now because I may have some kidney issues. I get the ultrasound results on Monday. I know what you mean about having to go anytime you have a small amount in your bladder. It sucks.Terri G. >> > Terri> Good for you! We don't have to take their crap after> all WE pay THEM!!
