With my last bit of research on this for kids all I found was that it wasn't for children under 12. But that was 6 months ago and in 6 months alot can change. I couldn't tell from your post if your son has CMT or epilepsy or both. If it is epilepsy, the Neurontin guidelines MAY be different, Neurontin is known as an " anti-epileptic " medication.I don't know anything about epilepsy. Why Neurontin helps SOME people with neuropathies (as in CMT, diabeties, for example) is that it stops the brain from misfiring so many pain signals that cause so much neuropathic pain. Like burning and electrical type pain. Feel free to email me directly if you want. For me personally, the Neurontin helped me with the CMT fatigue issue too.
