Guest guest
Jill in California-- Are you saying turkey is a natural supplier of tryptophan? Cool, I didn't know that, but will add that to my stack of holistic goodies! Guest guest
Hi Gretchen, Yes, turkey is a calming food but I do not eat turkey every day - I do eat it more often than I used to. I think all the reasons you gave are partially true. Tryptophan is also an amino acid which helps neurotransmitters - I think this is one of the main reasons it helps me. When I haven't eaten enough variety of foods, my balance is worse and I think it is partly because my neurotransmitters aren't firing as well. Tryptophan just helps this process. A few years ago there was a terribly unfortuneate incident with a bad batch of impure tryptophan. Several people had problems with 'overdose'. Since then, the bad batch of tryptophan was recalled and now, I believe, it is as safe as any other manufactured food supplement. Still, there is always a possibility of error and we must always be cautious when ingesting anything! Guest guest
Fast, Yeah, isn't it cool how everyone always falls asleep after Thanksgiving dinner?! That's because of the tryptophan:) Jill in CA > ---------- > From: Fast > Reply To: CMTUS (AT) e > Sent: Wednesday, May 3, 2000 2:35 PM > To: CMTUS (AT) e > Subject: Re: Tryptophan for balance? > > Jill in California-- > Are you saying turkey is a natural supplier of tryptophan? > Cool, I didn't know that, but will add that to my stack of holistic > goodies! > > Fast > I was in limbo - > Now I'm in Virginia! > fast@... > balance question > > > > > > > > > > Becky, Kat, anyone else - do you know if the CMT 'balance problem' > has > > > > > anything to do with the 'inner ear' like other balance problems. > Or, > > > is > > > > > ours directly related to proprioception or tripping?
