Guest guest
<< I am not familiar with hatha yoga for stretching but I am more than interested if anyone could help? >> I looked at a number of sites. There is enough text to keep one busy for months! In part, one site says: Hatha yoga is mostly yoga that prepares the body for the spiritual path via physical and breathing exercises, and asceticism. Hatha yoga is the most superficial component of yoga, the one that is preoccupied merely with the means to the means. It prepares and conditions the body so that the mind can practice meditation more or less without obstacles. Hatha yoga, as a main rather than an accessory practice, is quite a tiresome and roundabout way to enlightenment. Most yogis in India do not pay too much attention to it, and frequently completely ignore it. They think, why perfect the body if it is already working well? One of the more interesting sites is as follows. http://www.abhidhyan.org/Teachings/Hatha_Yoga.htm http://www.abhidhyan.org/Teachings/Hatha_Yoga.htm " >Physical (Hatha) Yoga I haven't tried yoga, but some folks enjoy it very much, and feel they gain many benefits. if you want to see more Yoga sites go to http://www.google.com Type in " Hatha Yoga " (remember to use the quote marks) There are video tapes available for beginners, such as Yoga for Weight Loss, Yoga for Beginners with Walden, or a series of tapes by Rodney Yee that are only 20 minutes long and focus on specific items.
