Hi Jim,

Amitriptyline is a 'neuro-transmitter' affecting the serotonin levels in

the brain. Anytime 'neuro-transmitter' medications are used, the

'natural' chemicals in the brain are changed. This takes some time.

While I DID notice a remarkable difference after only 4 days, the real

difference was 6 months later. Amitriptyline is slower to work/and build

up to. And that " drugged " feeling mornings went away about 7-10 days

after I started taking it. First I started with 50 mg, then up to 75,

then to 100, and back down, 75, 50, then 25 mg was a good maintenance

dose.
