Guest guest
Hi everyone, here from South Carolina. I have been reading and posting at cmtus for several weeks only and thought I'd tell you a bit about myself. I am new to the internet and still shy about revealing personal things about myself online. I had signs of CMT since early childhood and was finally diagnosed at 20 while attending Physical Therapy school. Don't know for sure what type I am, probably CMT1A. I will be 42 this month and live with my husband of 17 years, two daughters...age 8 and 10 and a cairn terrier named " Rusty " . I was fortunate to be able to practice PT for 15 happy years and am now currently a housewife, chef, taxi-driver, volunteer, etc...I STAY BUSY! I have only had surgeries to straighten out my hammer-toes and walk with shoe orthotics right now. Finally broke down and got them this winter and they make such a difference in my gait pattern. Can you read between the line that I am just a little bit vain! There are days when I really ponder the what will be's regarding my level of independence in the future, but most of the time I am quite positive about my condition and most things, in general. I do beleive in maintaing the hightest level of fitness I can manage. Fatigue seems to be more of a problem every year. Having this e-mail group has really been a source of fullfillment and a blessing for me. I am finding it informative, fun and it validates so many symptoms, problems and questions that I have wondered about for years. Thanks for this opportunity to share.
