Guest guest
Hi Jeanine, I sympathesize with you about the Dr. and the pain meds. And it's great you fired the guy! It took me alot of years and alot of grief from Dr's. before I changed my thinking and said " wait a sec, these Dr.'s work for me " ! I mean, I pay them. Hence, sort of an employer (me) employee (them) relationship. Even tho my insurance co. picks up 80%, even still, when I changed my view about Dr.s and started to speak up for myself, wow, did things change! I was aboutt 27 years old at the time! I grew up thinking Dr.s were gods and being poked and stuck and prodded, etc. Now, I have a say in everything!!!!! Like I have said, I now have a 'medical management team' of 2 Dr.s + my orthotist. I DO listen to them all, and I ask questions all the time. I also seem to think they respect me for this (or maybe I am delusional, and when they see me coming, they mutter " uh oh, here she comes - RUN " !) LOL When I know I am going to be traveling/on vacation, I always ask for a complete " extra " set of all medications. This is helpful when I travel either internationally, or just to San Francisco. That way I have a sort of 'security' and I haven't needed to even use the extra set, but it is good to have. With the international travel, this is helpful, in case luggage gets lost or stolen, and I always keep the meds. in my backpack, with other things I need daily (toothbrush, etc). I have read in my travel books that it is also recommended to take an extra script with you, in case you need to have it filled - anywhere, but I haven't done that - LOL - take my advice, I'm not using it!
